CI 2.Pro
Introducing CI's 2023 entry into Stab in the Dark, the CI 2.Pro. The 2.Pro features the same outline and bottom contours that helped Jack Robinson win the 2022 SITD, but with a reduced overall rocker to better suit the surfing style and waves expected for 2023.
When releasing the CI Pro, both rockers had been tested and proven to work well in various conditions. Over time, CI discovered that some of their team preferred the CI Pro curve, while others favoured the 2.Pro curve, both of which have been widely used by the team globally for over a year. They initially thought that the more rockered-out version would complement the power and shape of the waves in Hawaii, as well as Jack Robinson's surfing. However, when considering this year's contest with surfer Italo Ferreira, they felt that the slightly less rockered 2.Pro would be the right fit, based on his surfing style and the variety of waves he might encounter in Brazil.
Focused on delivering ultimate performance, the 2.Pro provides added speed due to the reduced rocker, making it easier to surf for a wider range of surfers in a greater variety of waves. With 1/4" less overall rocker compared to the CI Pro, the 2.Pro maintains the same subtle single concave to slight double through the fins, allowing the board to sit in the water and create that familiar connected feeling through transitions.
Based on CI's experience, the 2.Pro enhances the quiver for fans of the CI Pro, as some team riders will order the 2.Pro for lesser conditions. Additionally, for those intimidated by the CI Pro, the 2.Pro opens up new possibilities..
PU
PU construction refers to a surfboard built from a polyurethane blank with polyester resin. This has long been the standard construction for surfboards and although does not have the longevity of epoxy resin, offers the most most affordable option.
SpineTek
SHAPERS SPINE-TEK® Replaces traditional timber stringers with a precision engineered composite spine, combining innovation and technology to deliver optimal flex based performance.Designed through the principles of elastic potential energy, SPINE-TEK® allows the surfboard to flex, load up on energy and then spring back to its natural rocker curve with drive, speed, power, and flow.
ECT
Channel Islands Surfboards’ Eco Carbon Tech (ECT): a new carbon hand lamination that will level-up your performance. ECT built boards are livelier, stronger, familiar-feeling underfoot, and environmentally responsible.
ECT boards are hand-built by the same crew of surfers that have been crafting your boards for years. Available in PU/PE and EPS/Epoxy constructions, ECT can be custom ordered on any board allowing your board to be built just for you and never leaving you stuck between sizes.
For those wanting to take their surfing performance to the next level, look no further than Channel Islands’ ECT built boards.
